he 123math.ca program had its beginning in 1972 helping students learn their Basic Facts of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Students at that time in grades 4 through 8 were experiencing problems with their general math program. For several years different approaches were applied until the strategy was finalized in 1975.

Learning the Basic Facts at an early age increases one's ability to solve advanced mathematics in elementary and high school. The major problem students have with mathematics in elementary and high school is that they have not Mastered their Basic Facts. Universities and colleges are also concerned over students' math abilities as they leave high school.

This program has been used throughout Canada and the United States, successfully helping students learn their Basic Facts.

The program is designed to be parent directed and to become student directed as they take ownership of their learning.
