he 123math.ca program teaches your school aged child to Master the Basic Facts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
1. How did 123math.ca get started? In 1972 the program was initially begun to help a grade 4 / 5 student who was having difficulties with math. By 1979 students were using the program across Canada and the USA. Thousands of students have mastered their basic facts with this program. Now any parent wishing to have their child master their basic facts in a reasonable amount of time has the opportunity to do so. 2. What grade level is learning the Basic Facts of addition, multiplication, subtraction and division based on? Instruction in these four operations is designed for students from grade 3 and upward. Many students in grades 6 through 8 (and in high school) are weak in these operations, resulting in poor math marks. Once the Basic Facts have been mastered their math grades can improve significantly. 3. How do I know that the program is going to work? The only requirement for success is that your child wants to learn. With this positive attitude the program takes over and you will see many successes. 4. Is my child going to be able to complete the assignments in the program? Yes, the assignments are designed so that your child will begin the program at their instructional level. 5. As a parent how do I know that I am capable of helping my child learn his or her Basic Facts? Each unit that your son or daughter will work on comes with directions and a question and answer section containing the answers. This page:
6. How much time does a parent and their child need to dedicate to learning the Basic Facts at home? With a minimum of 15 minutes a day your child can begin having positive results in a short period of time. Initially the parent's role is to have their child establish daily 15 minute time periods and to oversee the completion of each assignment. Once the child knows the routine, he or she will want to take charge of his or her program with the parent becoming an observer who can help when called upon. See the Method page for more information about the learning process. 7. How long will it take my child to learn the Basic Facts? The length of time depends on your child's willingness to learn. 8. How is the program delivered to the parents? The program is downloaded through the site 123math.ca. For more information see the Program pages. 9. Is 123math.ca going to expand their program? Yes! We will be focusing on developing programs for grades 3 through 8. Many problems that high school math students experience occur because they do not have a firm foundation of their Basic Math Facts. 10. How much does the program cost? The cost of the program is $35.00 per operation or $95.00 for the 4 operations. See the Program Fees page for more information.
